Troy Cartwright captures two of the top 150 songs of 2015.

The Texas Regional Radio Report has just announced the top Texas County songs of 2015, and Troy Cartwright has found himself on the list twice this year.

Each December, the Texas Regional Radio Report releases a list comprising the most spun, most listened to songs of the year.

On the most recent 2015 list, Troy Cartwright received over 20,000 spins; enough to put him at #97 with "Next Flight Home" and #136 for "My Girl (She's All Mine)".

Monday Morning Inspiration - 4/6/15

"Wolves" American Aquarium
"Alabama Pines" Jason Isbell
"Katie" Fred Eaglesmitih

Wolves

"When The Wolves are Hungry, the wolves will eat
I just wish these wolves would keep their claws outta me"

The chorus is undeniable. The stand-out track on the album.

Alabama Pines

"Well I moved into this room, if you could call it that a week ago,
I never do what I'm supposed to do, hardly even know my name anymore"

Jason Isbell is a master songwriter. Every verse in this song has a way of putting your right smack in the middle of it.

Katie

"Katie, katie, what'd I do. I was so in love with you"

Fred Eaglesmith is such a treasure and is one of the most underrated touring songwriters alive right now. I had the pleasure of seeing his show back in January. If you have the opportunity, I'd highly recommend it.

BONUS: "Been a Long Time" - Fred Eaglesmith

Monday Morning Inspiration - 2/16/15

What I'm listening to this week:

The Bad Days - David Ramirez

Heard this on my run earlier today. I actually thought this was a Ryan Adams track. This song is lights out and worth listening to immediately. Powerful and great arrangement.

"There's gonna be days I haven't seen you months,
Nights when my love is a basement club
There's gonna be weeks when your all alone
Because of the days I'm chained to that open road
I hope that years that we come up short
are swallowed by the years that we make it work"

Cover Me Up - Jason Isbell

"Days we raged, we flew off the page, such damage was done.
But I made it through, with somebody new, I was meant for someone"

I also love the vocal doubling on the last line of the chorus.

Turtles All The Way Down - Sturgill Simpson

It took me at least five listens to become a fan. Sturgill was way too blown up before I listened so I had outsized expectations. I'm fully on board now, and you should be too.

"Every time I take a look inside inside that old and fabled book
I'm blinded and reminded of the pain caused by some old man in the sky
Marijuana, LSD, psilocybin, and DMT they all changed the way I see
But love's the only thing that ever saved my life"

indeed.

Listen and have a great week.
